Vex Never Wanted to Be Normal
An explanation on Vex’s identity from the realm….
Vex learned early that being “too much” was indeed a problem.
Being too observant.
Alos, Too quiet.
Or, even to strange.
Too interested in things no one else noticed, or liked.
So the Realm did what it always does.
It called it:
- imagination
- overthinking
- sensitivity
- weird
- strange
Vex wrote it down.
Not to fix herself.
To catalog the advantages, of being her.
Identity, According to Vex
Identity isn’t who you explain yourself to.
It’s what still works, with you being you.
Especially after people stop understanding you.
Vex didn’t grow into herself.
She leaned into the parts that scared people,
and she loved the most about herself.
The Realm Thought Vex Was Harmless
She didn’t shout, she didn’t need to.
She didn’t dominate rooms, she owned them before she ever waled through the door.
She didn’t demand attention, didn’t have to.
She just watched, at the reactions.
And, she noticed:
- patterns in behavior
- cycles in power
- who lied when pressed
- who panicked when observed
The Realm mistook quiet for weakness.
That was generous of them.
Vex (scribbled in the margins):
“If they underestimate you, let them.”
When “Weird” Becomes Useful
Vex’s identity was never marketable.
It was functional.
She could:
- feel shifts before they happened
- sense instability early
- read intention without asking
- disappear when necessary
What they called “odd”
was actually adaptation to the realm around her.
Magic isn’t sparks and smoke.
Magic is seeing clearly when others don’t.
It’s a gift, not a practice.
The Feral Part They Missed
Vex isn’t soft.
She’s precise.
She doesn’t attack loudly.
She rearranges circumstances.
By the time someone realizes something changed,
they’re already standing in the outcome.
That’s identity when it stops asking permission.
Rebel Once Asked Her:
“Why don’t you ever correct them?”
Vex smiled.
Because identity isn’t proven by argument.
It’s proven by results.
Lawless Calls It Cheating
Lawless absolutely hates rules, they don’t even apply to her, truthfully.
Vex hates pretending they’re fair.
Different approaches.
Same outcome.
Lawless: “You don’t fight fair.”
Vex: “I fight effectively.”
Rage Knows Better Than to Question It
Rage has seen what happens
when Vex decides something needs to end.
Not loudly.
Not dramatically.
Just… finished.
She stands in silence.
Meany Doesn’t Ask Questions
Meany respects two things:
- consistency
- teeth
Vex has both.
And, she’s not afraid to use them.
And, you never know when she will.
Meany, know this detail about Vex.
The Identity Vex Chose
Vex didn’t fix her strangeness.
She weaponized it.
She stopped trying to be legible.
Stopped translating herself.
Stopped sanding down her edges.
Her identity isn’t palatable.
It’s accurate.
Realm Record (Final)
If your identity makes people uncomfortable,
check whether it’s because it’s dangerous to them.
Normal is easy to manage.
Vex never was.
