they forgot they were being watched They Forgot They Were Being Watched

A Realm Lore Entry…..

The thing about the Bad Breed Maa’s is that when they’re on guard, they’re terrifying.

But when they’re together , really together and in the moment, they forget about the world around them.

And this particular moment in time….

This wasn’t a meeting for Chaos.

This wasn’t a plan of mass destruction.

This wasn’t a job they’ve been assigned to.

It was just one of those nights, where the girls got together to be girls and have fun.

The Beginning….

Rebel had her bike half ripped apart,

tools scattered like punctuation marks around the floor.

She wasn’t fixing anything urgent ,

She was just giving her favorite machine,

a mice tuning, adjusting, listening.

The kind of work you do when your hands need something to do but your mind finally gets to rest.

Lawless was sitting where she wasn’t supposed to be,

feet on something important, drink in hand, narrating her own bad decisions, like it was a documentary no one asked for.

Rage paced. She always did.

Not angry,  just charged by her own spark.

Like energy looking for a direction that hadn’t presented itself yet.

Vex wasn’t participating. She never fully does. She watched.

Not them exactly, but  the space between them.

The way the air shifted when Lawless laughed too loud.

The way Rebel stopped moving when Rage changed rhythm.

Meany stole food, chewed something that definitely wasn’t food, and laid down right in the middle of everything like she owned the place.

Which she absolutely did own the place.

It was loud, but what garage isn’t.

It was messy.

It was very familiar, pretty much home.

And for once, no one was bracing for impact.

This is what outsiders never understand….

The Bad Breed Maa’s don’t bond over trauma stories or shared suffering, like so many others.

They bond over presence of one another.

Over occupying the same space without needing to perform, explain, or soften,

change anything about themselves.

This was them unguarded.

No speeches.

No declarations.

No war paint.

Just existing, plainly as themselves, and with one another.

Rebel wiped her hands on a rag and leaned back, eyes closed for a second longer than usual.

Lawless was mid-sentence, already off track, already lying.

Rage had finally stopped pacing.

That’s when Vex tilted her head.

She didn’t interrupt.

Didn’t warn.

Didn’t react.

She just watched the corner of the room like they were in a staring contest, and it had blinked first at her.

Meany growled,

 low, lazy, uninterested ,

the kind of sound she only makes when something is close but not yet threatening.

Rebel opened her eyes.

Nothing looked wrong.

That’s what bothered her.

Nothing seemed, wrong, but Meany never growls over nothing,

and Vex seems lost in a trance staring at the corner.

Somewhere in the Realm, something had shifted.

Not enough to trigger alarms.

Not enough to interrupt the night the girls are having.

Just enough to notice, and be cautious of.

And for the first time in a long time,

the Bad Breed Maa’s didn’t realize

they weren’t alone anymore.
